About Ron Hogsett

Ron Hogsett sees the income tax as the enemy. Your tax return is a battle ground. Ron's goal is to win every battle.

Ron began his fight with the wily, increasingly complex enemy in 2003. Between engagements, Ron is obsessed with keeping up with developments in tax law and alerting his clients to changes that may affect them. Helping clients understand their current tax situation, and using planning to lower their long-term tax burden is as important to Ron as giving clients confidence that their tax returns are prepared accurately and filed timely. Ron believes fees should be reasonable, fair and transparent.

A seasoned and disciplined Enrolled Agent, Ron's rigorous training comprised 25 years in corporate finance and accounting, including 12 years as a controller. He built efficient, precision accounting and finance departments in start-up companies, developed budgets and presented financial results to venture capitalists and boards of directors.

Mountain View is Ron's birthplace and hometown, as well as home to his tax and financial planning practice. Ron received his BS degree in Accounting from San Jose State University and earned a Dual MBA in Accounting and Finance from Golden Gate University. He holds securities licenses series 6 and 63, and the health and life insurance license. Ron has mastered systems such as Expandable and NetSuite, and is a Certified QuickBooks ProAdvisor.

Ten years of client requests for objective, informed investment advice led Ron to begin offering financial advisory services in 2013.  The union of tax and corporate finance expertise with investment and risk-management training gives Ron a unique, comprehensive viewpoint to evaluate his clients' financial landscapes. Ron works with financial planning clients to develop strategies based on long and short term goals, risk, return, and tax-efficiency.

Ron excels in advising small business owners from the ground up. The full cycle starts with choice of business entity and setting up accounting systems; transitions to tax planning and preparation for sole proprietors, LLCs, S-Corporations, C-Corporations and partnerships; and finally, sale of the business or entity termination and distribution of assets.

Other areas of expertise include stock option and restricted stock (RSU/GSU) taxation, complex individual returns, financial management for rental property owners, multi-state returns, and accounting.
